As I took up a life of travel, I got the itch to write and the web was an obvious destination.
This page chronicles my journey and scrapes together roadkill from the ride.
I can’t say I recommend my process but in the end I learned a lot.
Trip Sites
In the early days of my travel blogging I hadn’t yet settled into a rhythm. One consequence was many one-off sites as I explored how to package this river of words and pictures that was flowing from of my travels. Rather than lose this archive of abandoned efforts I have packaged them here for reference. The sites are rather different and some are very simple but they all represents efforts that resulted in personal publishing growth.
- England-Paris Trip
- Oregon Trek
- Desert Southwest
- National Parks
- TCH Walking Tours
- West Coast Adventure
- Maine Lighthouses
- Broadway Walk
- Route 66
- Bridges of Manhattan
- Red Rock Country w/Courtney
- Westward Ho!
Day Trips
Much as my publishing style evolved so too did how I cover different topics. To begin with I had written only about extended excursions and wasn’t sure what to do with short outings. Below are a list of day trips or events and between the above and below I generated a list of many short and long trips

Stray Sites
Even to stray sites I yielded. Ones made by or for my daughters. Others for initiatives my wife and I got involved with. It became a horrible jumble. Sites everywhere! No more! 🙂
Family
Interests
Slowly but surely I developed a more more holistic approach, one that brought all these activities into a site that represented my life. Where I ended up was in a blog format. I now write in bite-sized morsel experiences and then gather up collections to package bigger thoughts. This technique served me well using iWeb and Apple hosting until the fateful day they announced they would stop supporting their software and discontinue their service.
That momentous day was when I started my search for a platform I could trust. If I was going to migrate my blog to a new system then I wanted to do it to a platform I could trust would not go away. This WordPress site is where I landed. With almost half the web being published using WordPress I can feel pretty confident it’s here to stay.
And even if it goes away, there will be third parties galore offering to help migrate.
Hopefully the effort I’ve made creating this site will last a long time.
Thanks for reading this; I hope you enjoy my blog. Travis
P.S. For kicks, here is where you can see the previous iWeb incarnation of my blog.
