A really good museum will grab your attention. Being short on time at a museum will really sharpen your focus. I fell victim to both and consequently don’t have many photos to show for our visit. The pictures below will at least show the family in context.
For years I’ve intended to visit the Newseum and the one previous time I tried, I found it closed in Arlington and not scheduled to reopen for two years in D.C. I was out of luck … till today.
This museum is stellar. My favorites galleries included the Berlin Wall, 9/11, First Amendment, News History, Interactive Newsroom, and World News. What touched me most was the Pulitzer Prize Photo Gallery. The pictures were stunning and often quite affecting. The impact of AOL on the Internet and news was periodically highlighted and I found that gratifying.
It’s from the Terrace Gallery that we found a wonderful view and from where we took the pictures below. Contrary to some peoples’ impressions, these are not Photoshopped pictures. These scenes are exactly as they appeared to us that day.
