On May 19 the Obama Administration announced the Mayors Maker Challenge.
It’s part of their push toward the White House Maker Faire this June. Among the ten challenges to Mayors is to host a Maker Faire, designate a Maker Liaison, and support local maker spaces. Many of the challenges would be easy wins for your administration if the challenges are properly understood. Closing date for applications is June 12.
My goal in writing is to make you aware of the Challenge in hope that you’ll accept it.
As a leader of the maker movement, having you accept a challenge would advance our cause so this isn’t a selfless effort by me. Having admitted that, if you or your team would like additional insight into the Mayors Maker Challenge and how to easily and effectively achieve one or more of its challenges then I’d be happy to make myself available by phone. A good starting point on the path to understanding is the Maker Playbook; another is the Maker Faire web site.
Please let me know if I can help you in any way.
Thank you. Travis Good (seven oh three) 635-0453
